The Sea Speaks

rain has set in folly
the wanderings i once had planned
while dreary, pummelled rain drops lay
on path that leads to sand

i onced walked in clear sun light
down the trail to oceans porch
treading upon concrete steps
sand beckoning me by force

now, i step hard upon the sand
different than before
the rain smoothed over loose beach ware
as if a wave has come ahead for more

seashells beckon me through bay of wind
pleading, to grasp them tight
that they might not be swallowed whole
when night brings back high tide

sand crabs with their little holes
blowing bubbles through make-shift wand
digging deeper away from hands
that gently sift through, fingers conned

sea calls for me with crashing waves
sun finally sighing and peeking through
warming rays and promises of longer stays
as i wade into the foamy deep blue pool
