Rain, Rain!

Rain, rain, stay a while!
I love to hear your voice
upon the roof-tops,
patter wild,
drops sloshing  down to earth.

Rain, rain, slow your pace!
I need wood to build a fire.
I love you
yet you smother me
with drops thick, soaking my attire.

Rain, rain, come again!
The summer stays too long.
Withered landscapes
wait with me
for your lovely pitter song.
